I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book at the publisher’s release party in May and it was worth it!
The story takes place in the not too distant future where the world has been irrevocably changed by nuclear fallout, changing humans and animals alike. What hooked me on this story is how close to reality this horrorscape really is, making it ultra believable. I was quickly invested in the main character Feeni and rode a roller coaster of emotions through the end. As she makes her way through the story trying to solve a murder and keep her fragmented family together, Feeni’s maturity and growth is apparent. I loved that this story is set in Ghana, and loved reading about the culture interwoven into the story. Rarely do we get a technological adventure based in a predominately Black setting, and it felt validating in many ways. But don’t get it twisted–this IS still a suspense novel complete with radioactive rabid dogs, blood-beer drinking vamps and exploding brains, just to name a few things. Highly recommended for everyone, as there is something that will appeal to readers of all genres!
